The exposure of lymphocytes to antigens occurs in solitary lymph nodes (follicles), in aggregates of lymph nodes present beneath mucous membranes, and in the spleen.

Where are the lymph node aggregations most dense?

Where are the lymph node aggregations most dense? Lymph node aggregations are most dense near the body surface in the inguinal, axillary, and cervical regions of the body.

Lymph nodes are not present in the central nervous system. There are three superficial regions on each side of the body where lymph nodes tend to cluster. These areas are the inguinal nodes in the groin, the axillary nodes in the armpit, and the cervical nodes in the neck.

In what regions are high concentrations of lymph nodes?

There are several hundred lymph nodes found mostly throughout the thorax and abdomen of the body with the highest concentrations in the axillary (armpit) and inguinal (groin) regions. The outside of each lymph node is made of a dense fibrous connective tissue capsule.

When looking at a lymph node where are lymphatic nodules?

When looking at a lymph node, where are lymphatic nodules? Deep cortex, tertiary cortex, juxtamedullary cortex and paracortical zone are all terms for the same region in a lymph node. The deep cortex is the inner region of the cortex, next to the medulla. Lymphatic nodules are not found in the deep cortex.

Where in the neck are the lymph nodes?

Cervical lymph nodes are located in the sides and back of the neck. These glands are usually very small. However, when a lymph node is greater than 1 centimeter in diameter, it is enlarged. The cervical lymph nodes sit deep inside the neck.

• Inferior Mesenteric Lymph Nodes. Location.

Are macrophages found in lymph nodes?

Macrophages are constituents of the reticuloendothelial system (or mononuclear phagocyte system) and occur in almost all tissues of the body. In some instances, macrophages are fixed in one place within tissues, such as in the lymph nodes and the intestinal tract.
