What is the ph of perchloric acid?
Daniel Lopez The pH of the perchloric acid solution is 1.55. The pH of an acid can be calculated by taking the negative log of the hydrogen ion concentration in...
How do you find the pH of perchloric acid?
1 Answer- We use the pH equation, which states that,
- pH=−log[H+]
- And so, the pH will be,
- pH=−log[0.075]
- ≈1.12.
What is the pH of 0.1 m HClO4?
In the case of 0.1 M HClO4 (pH = 1.1), which is the electrolyte most usually reported on the literature, the onset potential in the presence of bromide is significantly displaced to more negative potentials.
Is perchloric acid an acid or base?
A cold 70% aqueous perchloric acid solution is considered to be a strong acid or superacid (stronger than sulfuric and nitric acids) but is not necessarily a strong oxidizing agent. However, as the concentration and temperature of the perchloric acid are increased, so does its oxidizing power.
Is perchloric acid a weak acid?
All the other acids are weak. The strong acids are hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrobromic acid, hydroiodic acid, perchloric acid, and chloric acid. The only weak acid formed by the reaction between hydrogen and a halogen is hydrofluoric acid (HF).

The pH of a 1.4 M solution of HClO4 is -0.15. Perchloric acid, or HClO4 is a strong acid. It dissociates completely into...
What is the pH of a 1.81 8 M solution of HClO4?
This problem has been solved!
The pH of the resulting solution is 2.65.
What is the pH of acetic acid?
So, now we know that a 1 M acetic acid solution has a pH of 2.38.
What is the anhydride of perchloric acid?
The Structures of Perchloric Acid, HClO4, and Its Anhydride, Cl2O.
Why is perchloric acid the strongest acid?
The oxidation state of the Cl in Perchloric acid (HOClO3) is +7 whereas that of S in Sulphuric acid(H2SO4) is +6. Greater the oxidation state of the central atom, more readily is the cleavage of th O-H bond and hence stronger the acid.
What is the use of perchloric acid?
Perchloric acid is a strong acid used for complete digestions of organic material. It is normally supplied in bottles of up to one gallon in capacity at 70-72% strength. In many respects, its hazards are similar to those of nitric acid, as both are strong oxidants.
What is the pH of 0.2 N perchloric acid?
The pH of the perchloric acid solution is 1.55.
How do you find the pH?
To calculate the pH of an aqueous solution you need to know the concentration of the hydronium ion in moles per liter (molarity). The pH is then calculated using the expression: pH = - log [H3O+].
What's the pH of sulfuric acid?
Sulfuric acid (H2So4) has a pH of 0.5 at a concentration of 33.5%, which is equivalent to the concentration of sulfuric acid used in lead-acid batteries.
What is the pH of a 2.8 M solution of HClO4?
Therefore, pH of 2.8 M HClO4 solution is -0.45 .
What is the pH of a 3.0 M solution of HClO4?
pH is defined as the negative log of hydrogen or hydronium ion concentration. Thus, pH of 1.34 × 10−3 M HClO4 is 2.87.
What is the pH of a 0.025 M solution of HClO4?
The pH is 1.60.
What is the pH of nano3?
Sodium nitrate is made from the neutralization of a strong base(NaOH) with the strong acid(HNO3) and has a pH value equal to 7. Hence, the aqueous solution of NaNO3 is completely neutral.
What pH is NaOH?
NaOH is a strong base, so this will produce 0.1mol/L of OH ions in solution. This will produce a pH of 13.
Is perchloric acid aqueous?
Perchloric acid, with not more than 50% acid appears as a clear colorless odorless aqueous solution. Corrosive to metals and tissue.
Is perchloric acid an electrolyte?
The most familiar example of a strong electrolyte is table salt, sodium chloride. Most salts are strong electrolytes, as are strong acids such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, perchloric acid, and sulfuric acid. ... Weak electrolytes are substances which only partially dissociate into ions when dissolved in water.
Is HNO2 a weak acid?
Nitrous acid (HNO2), a weak acid, is very unstable and exists only in aqueous solution.
