On board connector guiding and keying are available to control and discriminate daughter-card engagement with the backplane card slot.

What is HSMC connector?

HSMC connectors provide the interface between a host board and a mezzanine card. The 'header' part on a mezzanine card plugs into the 'socket' part on a host board.

Is FMC+ compatible with FMC?

FMC+ carriers allow for backwards compatibility with FMC mezzanines.

FMC Overview

What is LPC and HPC?

The (LPC) connectors provide 68 user-defined, single-ended signals (or 34 user-defined, differential pairs); (HPC) connectors provide 160 user-defined, single-ended signals (or 80 user-defined, differential pairs), 10 serial transceiver pairs and additional clock.

What is mezzanine card in blade servers?

Server systems often comprise multiple server blades housed in a chassis and/or in standard rack mount. ... Expansion cards for blade servers may have a mezzanine design, in which the expansion card is inserted or installed parallel to the system board of the server.

What does a mezzanine card do?

A PCI mezzanine card is a peripheral card that extends the functionality of a system by providing a means to connect other peripheral devices and serves as data acquisition cards used in industrial settings for sensors, sonars and the like.

What is PCI vs PCIe?

PCI Vs PCI Express in Working Topology: PCI is a parallel connection, and devices connected to the PCI bus appear to be a bus master to connect directly to its own bus. While PCIe card is a high-speed serial connection. ... While hot-plugging function is not available for PCI, it can only support a maximum of 5 devices.

What is mezzanine module?

M-Modules are a mezzanine (computer hardware) standard mainly used in industrial computers. Being mezzanines, they are always plugged on a carrier printed circuit board (PCB) that supports this format. The modules communicate with their carrier over a dedicated bus, and can have all kinds of special functions.

What are mezzanine adapters?

A huge variety of mezzanine adapters, also known as Virtual Interface Cards (VICs), is available from Cisco for both B-Series blade servers and C-Series rack servers. Older adapters are fixed port and not optimized for contemporary virtualized server environments.

What is IBM blade server?

The IBM BladeCenter T is a compact (20-inch deep) eight-server blade chassis designed for high-density server installations for telecommunications use. ... The IBM eServer BladeCenter T chassis is positioned for expansion, capacity, redundancy, and carrier-grade NEBS level /ETSI compliance (planned) in DC models.

What is UCS blade?

Cisco UCS B-Series Blade Servers incorporate industry-standard server technologies, delivering a unified-architecture-driven solution for data centers. ... Increase server performance, flexibility, and scale for virtualized and non-virtualized applications. Deploy server applications faster and manage connectivity as ...

What is the difference between rack server and blade server?

Actually, both of them are the network servers. The biggest difference is the installed way. A Rack Server is a standalone device installed in the cabinet, while several blade servers need to work with each other in one chassis.

What is aircraft engine HPC?

Simplified diagram of the engine simulated [13] (LPC: Low pressure compressor, HPC: High pressure compressor, LPT: Low pressure turbine, HPT: High pressure turbine, N1: Turbine axis and N2: Turbine shaft).

What is high pressure air compressor?

High-pressure industrial air compressors intake ambient air and compress it to pressures as high as 6000 pounds per square inch (PSI) for breathing air and other applications. ... High-pressure air compressors are used in a variety of applications including fire, industrial, SCUBA, and paintball markets.

What do fabric interconnects do?

The Fabric Interconnect (FI) is the core component of a UCS solution, providing network, storage, and unified management capabilities to servers. Fabric Interconnects are typically configured as highly available clustered pairs in production environments and provide active-active data traffic.

What is Cisco Intersight?

Cisco Intersight ^™ is a cloud operations platform that consists of optional, modular capabilities of advanced infrastructure, workload optimization, and Kubernetes services. This Software-as-a- Service (SaaS) management platform is augmented by other intelligent systems.

What is Cisco UCS hardware?

Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) is a data center server computer product line composed of computing hardware, virtualization support, switching fabric, and management software introduced in 2009 by Cisco Systems.

What does a blade server do?

A blade server, sometimes referred to as a high-density server, is a compact device containing a computer used to manage and distribute data in a collection of computers and systems, called a network. Its role is to act as a conduit between computers, programs, applications and systems.

What is mezzanine bus architecture?

The mezzanine bus is a computer component card that sits between the motherboard and other cards. The name mezzanine comes from the word mezzano, meaning middle. The bus is a bridge that connects other cards in the computer to the CPU and allows simple, fast communication.

What is PMC interface?

A PCI Mezzanine Card or PMC is a printed circuit board assembly manufactured to the IEEE P1386. 1 standard. ... A PMC can have up to four 64-pin bus connectors. The first two ("P1" and "P2") are used for 32 bit PCI signals, a third ("P3") is needed for 64 bit PCI signals.

What are carrier cards?

Carrier cards and carrier boards, also referred to as “baseboards”, implement application specific functionality, I/O interfaces, peripherals and power supplies for computing applications.

What is XMC form factor?

PMC/XMC Cards

PMC/XMC form factor cards are rugged and are designed for embedded computing applications. The rugged nature of PMC/XMC form factor cards allows them to be dropped, rattled or used in extremely high-temperature environments and are compliant.
