What is the expected modulation index in case of wide band FM? Explanation: For producing Narrow band frequency modulated wave, modulation index should be less than or equal to1. For wideband frequency modulated wave, modulation index should be greater than 1.

What is the frequency range for wideband FM?

Wideband FM is used for FM broadcasting, in which music and speech are transmitted with up to 75 kHz deviation from the center frequency and carry audio with up to a 20 kHz bandwidth and subcarriers up to 92 kHz.

What is the modulation index of wide band FM?

Wideband FM is defined as the situation where the modulation index is above 0.5. Under these circumstances the sidebands beyond the first two terms are not insignificant.

What is wideband frequency modulation?

Wideband FM is defined as the situation where the modulation index is above 0.5. ... The bandwidth of the FM transmission is a means of categorising the basic attributes for the signal, and as a result these terms are often seen in the technical literature associated with frequency modulation, and products using FM.

What are the types of frequency modulation Mcq?

Move the signal spectrum to a frequency that is less susceptible to attenuation in a medium is necessary. Further, the modulations are classified into two types. They are Amplitude modulation and angle modulation. Frequency modulation is part of an Angle modulation.

Introduction to Frequency Modulation (FM) - Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) (AKTU)

What is the modulation index of FM wave Mcq?

Frequency Modulation MCQ Question 4 Detailed Solution

In FM (Frequency Modulation), the modulation index is defined as the ratio of frequency deviation to the modulating frequency. A wave has 3 parameters Amplitude, Phase, and Frequency.

What is frequency in Mcq?

Explanation: Frequency is the number of occurrence of an event in a given time interval. That is for 35 events in 7 seconds frequency is 35÷7=5Hz. 4.

What is wideband frequency?

Wideband in this context is usually considered to cover frequencies in the range of 50–7,000 Hz, therefore allowing audio with richer tones and better quality. ... In some contexts wideband is distinguished from broadband in being broader.

What is wideband FM & narrowband FM?

Wide band FM / Broadband FM. Narrow Band FM. A narrow band FM is the FM wave with a small bandwidth , The modulation index mf of narrow band FM is small as compared to one radian . Hence, the spectrum of narrow band FM consists of the carrier and upper sideband and a lower sideband .

What is a modulation index?

Modulation index describes the extent to which modulation is done on a carrier signal. In an amplitude modulation, it is defined as the ratio of the amplitude of modulating signal to that of the carrier signal.

What is modulation index in amplitude modulation?

In AM schemes, the modulation index refers to the amplitude ratio of the modulating signal to the carrier signal. With the help of Fast-Fourier-Transforms (FFT), the modulation index can be obtained by measuring the sideband amplitude and the carrier amplitude.

What is the frequency modulation index of SCO?

What will be the frequency modulation index of SCO? Explanation: Frequency modulation index of SCO is standardised to be 5.

What is Carson's formula?

The formula that calculates this bandwidth is called CARSON'S RULE. ... To calculate the CARSON'S RULE bandwidth occupancy of this signal, add the highest audio frequency to the peak deviation (15KHz + 75KHz = 90KHz), then multiply by two to include both the upper and lower sideband (90KHz X 2 = 180KHz).

What is Carson's rule formula?

Note 1: The Carson bandwidth rule is expressed by the relation CBR = 2( f + f _m) where CBR is the bandwidth requirement, f is the carrier peak deviation frequency, and f _m is the highest modulating frequency. ...

What is Carson's rule for FM bandwidth?

Carson's rule estimates the FM signal bandwidth as BT = 2(75 + 15) = 180 kHz which is six times the 30 kHz bandwidth that would be required for AM modulation.

What is a wideband used for?

A wideband oxygen sensor (commonly referred to as a wideband O2 sensor) is a sensor that measures the ratio of oxygen to fuel vapor in the exhaust exiting an engine. The measured ratio is expressed as parts of oxygen to fuel.

What is narrowband and wideband signal?

The terms “narrowband” and “wideband” refer to the actual radio channel bandwidth. A common definition (ETSI) of narrowband is when 25 kHz or less is used for the radio channel. ... The advantage of wideband is the capability to transfer higher data rates.

What is narrowband and broadband?

In Narrowband a narrow set of frequencies are considered and communication happens only in those frequencies. ... Broadband covers a wide bandwidth and uses different signals and frequencies in its spectrum. Also, broadband is used in internet services and it provides high speed access of internet in the system.

Why is it called wideband?

Wideband sensors were developed to more accurately measure A/F ratios over a broader range of operating conditions (hence the name).

What is wideband interference?

NBI (narrowband interference) and WBI (wideband interference) refers to the source of the interference, and whether its bandwidth (or spectral width) is narrow or wide. ... Overall signal strength (RSSI) may be high, but the undesirable noise and interference causes a poor signal quality (low SINR).

What is wideband technology?

Ultra-wideband (UWB, ultra wideband, ultra-wide band and ultraband) is a radio technology that can use a very low energy level for short-range, high-bandwidth communications over a large portion of the radio spectrum. UWB has traditional applications in non-cooperative radar imaging.

What does the accelerometer measure Mcq?

Explanation: The accelerometer is a type of inertial instrument that measures the acceleration in any given axes.

Which statement is true about frequency multipliers Mcq?

Explanation: Frequency multiplier multiplies the frequency of the input by an integer, such that the output is a multiple of the input. Frequency multipliers are generally class C amplifiers.

What is the correct statement about FM modulation index?

The FM modulation index is equal to the ratio of the frequency deviation to the modulating frequency.
