Scales are generally expressed as ratios and the most common scales used in furniture drawing are 1:1, 1:2, 1:5, and 1:10 for reducing and possibly 2:1 for enlarging.

What is enlargement and reduction of design?

The idea behind enlarging and reducing a design is to be able to use one motif on different sizes and shapes of articles. ... Find a design that you would like to use in your embroidery.

How will you enlarge the view size of a drawing?

Projectors are an excellent way to scale drawings up. Opaque projectors can be used to project an image such as a drawing onto a larger surface. Simply trace over the projected image and your drawing is scaled up. Digital projectors are also a good way to enlarge drawings.

What is used to draw enlarged sizes of objects?

Designers use an enlarged scale, such as double scale, on objects that are too small to draw full size with any meaningful detail. Common metric scales are 1:100, 1:50, 1:20, 1:10 and 1:5.

How do you reduce and enlarge a map?

The square method is the most common and simplest method for enlargement and reduction of maps. In order to enlarge a map, cover the original map with a set of squares of equal sides. The side of the squares has to be enlarged proportionally to that the original map.

Using a Grid to Enlarge a Drawing

What is reduction and enlargement?

A reduction (think shrinking) is a dilation that creates a smaller image, and an enlargement (think stretch) is a dilation that creates a larger image. ... If the scale factor is greater than 1, the image is an enlargement.

Which of the following represent reducing scale?

3. Which of the following scales is a reducing scale? Explanation: The representative fraction 1:3 indicates that the dimension of the drawing is one-third of the actual object. Since the drawing is smaller than the actual object, this type of scale is called a reducing scale.

What is RF in drawing?

Explanation: Representative factor is the ratio of the length represented in drawing to the actual length. Here given actual length is 1 cm and length of drawing is 30 cm. R.F. = 30 cm/1 cm = 30.

How do you enlarge a scale drawing?

Grid your reference and enlarge or decrease the ratio to draw a grid on your paper. Copy each box in proportion. Measure two points with scale dividers, the reverse end will mark those same points on a different scale. Enlarge a photocopy to size, shade the reverse side, flip it over and trace the outline.

How do you resize a drawing?

You can resize a drawing object to make it either smaller or larger. To resize a drawing object, select the drawing object that you want to resize, and drag the drawing object perimeter line to the size you want.

What is reduction scale?

Reducing scale. When the dimensions on the drawing are smaller than the actual dimensions of the object. It is represented by the scale and RF as Scale: 1 cm = 100 cm or 1 : 100 and by RF = 1 / 100 (less than one)

What is enlargement scale?

Enlarging a shape changes its size. All the sides of the triangle X'Y'Z' are twice as long as the sides of the original triangle XYZ. The triangle XYZ has been enlarged by a scale factor of 2. Enlargement is an example of a transformation.

What do you mean by enlarge scale?

The scale factor describes the size of an enlargement or reduction. For example, a scale factor of means that the new shape is twice the size of the original. A scale factor of means that the new shape is three times the size of the original.

What is los in engineering drawing?

The true size and shape of any feature in an engineering drawing can only be known when the Line of Sight (LOS) is perpendicular to the plane being referenced. It is shown like a three-dimensional object.

What is linear scaling?

A scale with equal divisions for equal values. For example, a ruler has a linear scale.

What is projection in engineering drawing?

Projection. Projection is defined as a geometrically represented image (visual image or figure) of an object obtained on a surface or plane.

Which of the following mechanism is used to enlarge or reduce the size of a drawing?

Which of the following mechanism is used to enlarge or reduce the size of a drawing ? Explanation: A pantograph is an instrument used to reproduce to an enlarged or a reduced scale and as exactly as possible the path described by a given point.

Which of the following RF will have an enlarging scale?

Which of the following representative factor will have an enlarging scale? Explanation: The representative factor 1:0.5 can be written as 2:1. Since the actual length of the drawing is less than the representative length, the scale is enlarging.

Which lines on a drawing should be the thickest?

2.4.5 Cutting Plane Lines

The direction of the cutting line is shown with a line called a cutting plane lineHeavy dashed line that shows a theoretical cut through an object.. This is the thickest line that may appear on a drawing.

What is the formula for enlargement?

Enlargement using lengths

New length = original length × scale factor. A triangle of base 3 m and height 2 m is enlarged using a scale factor 5.
