Explanation: The cutting oils are most suitable oils for heavy cutting. The lubricants contain the additives like fatty oils and sulphurized fatty oils and chlorinated compounds. ... Explanation: Oil emulsions are the most effective lubricants in light cuttings.

Which lubricants are used for heavy load applications?

In most cases heavy-duty applications are lubricated with grease. There are several reasons why grease is most often used.

Which solution is used for lubrication in heavy-duty rolling?

5. Which of the following is used for lubrication in heavy-duty roll forming? Explanation: The soap-type solutions are used for heavy-duty roll forming. Non-ionic type solutions are excellent for roll forming aluminium and coated components and extreme pressure-type are used for high strength alloys.

Which type of lubricant is used in delicate instrument?

Fluid Film or Thick film or Hydrodynamic lubrication:

This type of lubrication is used in delicate instruments and light machines like watches, clocks, guns, etc.

Which Penetrating Oil is Best? Let's find out!

What are lubricants answers?

A lubricant is a substance, usually organic, introduced to reduce friction between surfaces in mutual contact, which ultimately reduces the heat generated when the surfaces move. ... The property of reducing friction is known as lubricity.

What are lubricants used for railway tracks?

There are two lubricant used in on-board lubrication system; grease and solid stick. a. Spray (grease) System; It is commonly used in Europe. It is available fine tuned control and single application per train.

What are lubricants?

Definition. Lubricant is a substance which is used to control (more often to reduce) friction and wear of the surfaces in a contact of the bodies in relative motion [1]. Depending on its nature, lubricants are also used to eliminate heat and wear debris, supply additives into the contact, transmit power, protect, seal.

What are good lubricants?

• Aloe vera. Aloe vera is water-based and can improve skin hydration while also reducing irritation. ...
• Plain yogurt. Plain yogurt could be a useful alternative lubricant. ...
• Olive oil. ...
• Virgin coconut oil. ...
• Egg whites.

What type of lubricant is best?

the type of sex you have – the best lubricants for anal sex are water- or silicone-based, as they reduce friction and the risk of a condom breaking.
...
Silicone-based lubricant

• Astroglide X Silicone Liquid.
• Durex Play Perfect Glide Silicone-based Gel Lube.
• Gun Oil Silicone.

Which of these is an example of semi liquid lubricant?

Explanation: The best example for semi-liquid lubricant is grease.

Which of the following is true about EMF process?

Which of the following is true about EMF process? Explanation: In EMF process, very intense magnetic field is produced by the discharge of capacitor bank into a forming coil, which lasts for only a few microseconds. ... In EMF process, eddy currents are induced in a conductive workpiece.

Which of following is necessary in order to have a good set of rolls?

Clarification: The probability of having a good set of rolls is to follow few rules: (1) Envision a smooth flow of material, (2) Do not be skimpy with the number of forming passes, (3) Avoid too short horizontal distances and too small lead-in flanges.

What is lubricating oil used for?

Lubricating oil, sometimes simply called lubricant/lube, is a class of oils used to reduce the friction, heat, and wear between mechanical components that are in contact with each other. Lubricating oil is used in motorized vehicles, where it is known specifically as motor oil and transmission fluid.

What is penetrating oil used for?

Penetrating oils are used to free stuck nuts, bolts, locks, etc. that usually contain rust and corrosion. Lubricating oils are used to prevent and protect those parts from becoming stuck in the first place, while also quieting squeaks or noise that comes from metal parts rubbing together.

Where are solid lubricants used?

A solid lubricant is a material used as powder or thin film which reduces friction and wear of contacting surfaces in relative motion and provides protection from damage. Solid lubricant friction is a special form of friction which occurs when using solid lubricants.

What type of oil is lubricant?

Oil, Lubricating

The most common lubricating oils are crude oil distillate fractions although both synthetic and plant-based lubricating oils are used.

What are examples of lubricants?

Common examples of internal lubricants include fatty alcohols, esters (low esterification), and EVA wax. External lubricants provide metal release and help reduce process temperature. Common examples of external lubricants include PE waxes, paraffin, metal soaps, esters (high esterification), amides, and fatty acids.

What is the work of lubricant?

Lubricants aim at reducing friction between moving pieces and at reducing passive resistance of the stationary parts. They are produced by refining heavy fractions of crude oil (remaining crude oil parts after refining hydrocarbons such as gas, fuel oil or kerosene).

How do lubricants reduce friction?

Lubrication reduces the heat generated when two surfaces are in motion. It smoothes the process by forming a film between two surfaces that reduces friction and thus improves performance and efficiency.

What are the methods of lubrication?

• Drip oil feed lubrication.
• Splash oil feed lubrication.
• Force oil feed lubrication.
• Grease lubrication.

Are rails lubricated?

Prolonged Rail Life

The primary function of rail lubrication is to minimize friction between the wheel flange and rail interface, especially in the curves where side cutting of rails often occurs. ... It's clear, then, that rail lubrication is an absolutely necessary component of any rail maintenance routine.

What is rail lubrication?

Grease application reduces friction at the wheel/rail interface. ...

Which oil is used as lubricant in refrigeration?

Polyol ester (POE): this refrigeration oil is the most common type of synthetic lubricant being used with HFC refrigerants, like R134a.

What is the use of lubricants in short answer?

Lubricant is a substance used to reduce friction between surfaces in contact which reduces heat generated when the surfaces move.
