Like people and all mammals, birds are warm-blooded. Their body temperature remains constant — about 106 degrees, according to the Audubon Society. To maintain their body heat in freezing temperatures, their bodies have developed several mechanisms. ... This allows for a concurrent heat exchange.

Are birds warm-blooded?

All mammals and birds are capable of generating this internal heat and are classed as homoiotherms (ho-MOY-ah-therms), or warm-blooded animals. Normal temperatures for mammals range from 97° F to 104° F. Most birds have a normal temperature between 106° F and 109° F.

How come birds are warm-blooded?

Warm-blooded animals (such as mammals and birds) produce their own heat and maintain a constant internal body temperature. Cold-blooded animals (such as reptiles and fish) don't have internal mechanisms for regulating their body temperature; their body temperature depends on their environment.

Which animal is not cold blooded?

When I was a kid, I was taught that the animal kingdom could be divided into two groups.
