After death, your cells and organs can remain alive for longer than you would think. Definitely not. The brain and nerve cells require a constant supply of oxygen and will die within a few minutes, once you stop breathing.

Can someone be alive and dead at the same time?

At the heart of Quantum Mechanics lies quantum superposition. This strange phenomenon is often described as the capacity of a quantum system to be in multiple incompatible states at the same time. The most famous example of this is Schrödinger's cat, which would be both dead and alive at the same time.

What's alive and dead at the same time?

In quantum mechanics, Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment that illustrates a paradox of quantum superposition. In the thought experiment, a hypothetical cat may be considered simultaneously both alive and dead as a result of its fate being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur.

What does dead but alive mean?

: alive but as if dead : dull, spiritless.

Can you be at two places at once?

"Quantum theory dictates that a very tiny thing can absorb energy only in discrete amounts, can never sit perfectly still, and can literally be in two places at once," said Adrian Cho, a writer for Science.

What is quantum theory?

Quantum theory is the theoretical basis of modern physics that explains the nature and behavior of matter and energy on the atomic and subatomic level. The nature and behavior of matter and energy at that level is sometimes referred to as quantum physics and quantum mechanics.

How many dimensions are there?

The world as we know it has three dimensions of space—length, width and depth—and one dimension of time. But there's the mind-bending possibility that many more dimensions exist out there. According to string theory, one of the leading physics model of the last half century, the universe operates with 10 dimensions.

Is teleportation possible?

While human teleportation currently exists only in science fiction, teleportation is possible now in the subatomic world of quantum mechanics -- albeit not in the way typically depicted on TV. In the quantum world, teleportation involves the transportation of information, rather than the transportation of matter.

Can time be defined?

Physicists define time as the progression of events from the past to the present into the future. ... Time can be considered to be the fourth dimension of reality, used to describe events in three-dimensional space. It is not something we can see, touch, or taste, but we can measure its passage.

What did Einstein mean by God does not play dice?

'God Plays Dice with the Universe,' Einstein Writes in Letter About His Qualms with Quantum Theory. ... Instead, Einstein argued that the rules for even tiny particles must be consistent whether the particles were observed or not.

What is it called when you are in 2 places at once?

As surprising as it may sound, bilocation has intrigued and exercised philosophers, scientists and theologians for centuries. ... Because such a phenomenon would involve being in more than two places at the same time, it is often referred to as “multilocation”.

What is ubiquity?

: presence everywhere or in many places especially simultaneously : omnipresence.

Why did Einstein disagree with Heisenberg?

Einstein's opponents used Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle against him, which (among other things) states it is not possible to measure both the position and the momentum of a particle simultaneously to arbitrary accuracy.

Do atoms exist in space?

It's the most abundant element in the universe, making up 75 per cent of all its atoms. "The two most common things in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity," said American writer Harlan Ellison. But most hydrogen atoms floating in space are so spread out, they're essentially invisible to astronomers.

Does God Play Dice Stephen Hawking?

Writing to Max Born, he famously stated: "I, at any rate, am convinced that He [God] does not throw dice." But as Stephen Hawking later remarked in terms that Heisenberg would have recognised: "Not only does God play dice, but…he sometimes throws them where they cannot be seen."

Does Einstein Believe in God?

Albert Einstein's religious views have been widely studied and often misunderstood. Albert Einstein stated that he believed in the pantheistic God of Baruch Spinoza. He did not believe in a personal God who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings, a view which he described as naïve.

Does God throw dice?

One of Albert Einstein's most famous quotes is, "God does not play dice with the universe." ... The second half of the quote — "does not play dice" — is often misunderstood, too. It's not an affirmation of destiny. The phrase refers to one of the most important theories in modern physics: quantum mechanics.

Does the past exist?

Events in the past and in the future do not exist. The only reality, the only thing that is real, is the present. This idea is called Presentism. This idea, however, runs into some serious problems when you start taking into account relativity.

How was time created?

The measurement of time began with the invention of sundials in ancient Egypt some time prior to 1500 B.C. However, the time the Egyptians measured was not the same as the time today's clocks measure. For the Egyptians, and indeed for a further three millennia, the basic unit of time was the period of daylight.

Is time really an illusion?

According to theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli, time is an illusion: our naive perception of its flow doesn't correspond to physical reality. Indeed, as Rovelli argues in The Order of Time, much more is illusory, including Isaac Newton's picture of a universally ticking clock.

Can time be stopped?

The simple answer is, "Yes, it is possible to stop time. All you need to do is travel at light speed." The practice is, admittedly, a bit more difficult. Addressing this issue requires a more thorough exposition on Special Relativity, the first of Einstein's two Relativity Theories.

What does Einstein say about time?

For example, physicist Albert Einstein's theory of special relativity proposes that time is an illusion that moves relative to an observer. An observer traveling near the speed of light will experience time, with all its aftereffects (boredom, aging, etc.) much more slowly than an observer at rest.

What if there is no time?

In zero seconds, light travels zero meters. If time were stopped zero seconds would be passing, and thus the speed of light would be zero. ... Nothing can travel faster than light (let alone infinitely fast) without gaining infinite mass and energy, according to Einstein's theory of relativity.

Why is a minute 60 seconds and not 100?

Who decided on these time divisions? THE DIVISION of the hour into 60 minutes and of the minute into 60 seconds comes from the Babylonians who used a sexagesimal (counting in 60s) system for mathematics and astronomy. They derived their number system from the Sumerians who were using it as early as 3500 BC.
