. ... These simply screw onto the DIN opening and then extend it into an a-clamp style, allowing it to be screwed onto a yoke valve.

What is the difference between DIN valve and yoke valve?

First, what is the difference between them? The yoke is a clamp-type mounting, which is placed over the tank valve and then tightened into place. The DIN is a threaded valve, wherein you screw the regulator into the tank valve.

Where are DIN valves used?

DIN valves are used on tanks with services pressures over 3000 psi. As you may have guessed, these specialized DIN valves use DIN attachments to connect to regulators. You can tell a DIN valve just by looking at it as its hole connection is wider and doesn't have an O-ring on it.

Does a DIN valve have an O-ring?

DIN regulators have the o-ring incorporated into the regulator instead of the tank valve. The location of the o-ring in the DIN system is superior.

Is Din better than yoke?

Within the technical diving community, DIN is the standard as it is considered much safer. If technical diving is on the cards for you, it's worth future proofing your regulator purchase by going straight for a DIN rather than purchasing a yoke and then wanting to change it later on.

Should I keep some air in my scuba cylinder?

Your scuba cylinder should always be stored with a minimum of 200 psi inside of it. If it is stored completely empty, the absence of pressure inside the cylinder can allow all sorts of things to enter into it. Most divers don't think much in the way of their scuba cylinders.

What is a DIN K valve?

The Sonar DIN/K Cylinder Valve is for use with both DIN and Yoke (K) regulator first stage fittings. The outlet on the cylinder valve is a five-thread 200-Bar DIN, designed to accept an included yoke adaptor insert. ... WARNING: Please ensure that you are fitting the valve to the correct cylinder.

What should I do to prevent mask squeeze?

It is super simple to prevent mask squeeze. All you have to do is gently exhale or blow your nose occasionally as you descend. This will equalize the airspace in the mask to the pressure outside of the mask.

How close should I stay to my dive flag padi?

Stay within 300 feet (90 meters) of the diver down flag or buoy in open water and 100 feet (30 meters) when diving in rivers, inlets or navigation channels.

What is the most important feature of a scuba regulator?

All Scuba Regulator has one basic function and that is to decrease the high air pressure in the scuba tank to ambient pressure (surrounding pressure) so that we can breathe comfortably underwater. The regulator achieves this through two stages, the first stage and the second stage.

How do you install a yoke regulator?

The following procedures are for attaching a yoke style regulator to a "J" or "K" cylinder valve.
...
Attaching The Regulator

1. Remove the dust cap by loosening the yoke screw.
2. Place the 1st stage over the cylinder valve. ...
3. Tighten the yoke screw against the valve. ...
4. Attach the low-pressure hose to the power inflator's air inlet.

What will happen to my wet suit as I descend?

As you descend (go down) towards the bottom, you wet suit will: compress (become smaller in thickness) from water pressure and you will lose buoyancy and warmth the deeper you go. You know you are properly weighted for diving if you: ... Imagine you feel a mild current at the start of your dive.

Does oxygen go bad in a scuba tank?

Year old air should be fine as long as the tank does not have water in it to aide the corrosion/rust process which can lower the O2 content of the air.

What is proper care for scuba cylinder?

Always block or secure your tank so it can't fall over easily or roll around, which can damage it, other equipment or you. Besides rinsing your cylinder and valve with fresh water and storing it in a cool place, don't allow it to completely empty – always store it with air inside to keep moisture out.

Do dive tanks expire?

In the US, the DOT (Department of Transportation) controls scuba cylinders. While wrong, many dive shops agree that a properly cared for aluminum tank has a service life of about 20 years. In reality, aluminum tanks by engineering can withstand the stress of 100000 refills or 10000 hydrostatic tests.

How many Metres should I stay within my dive flag?

All vessels must navigate so as to avoid injury to the diver or interference with the vessel or floating object. DoT recommends where possible skippers maintain a distance of more than 100 metres from a vessel or buoy displaying a dive flag.

How big does a dive flag have to be?

Divers Flag: A rigid rectangular flag, at least 14 x 16 inches, with a white diagonal stripe that is one-fifth the width of the flag must be mounted on a float or buoy.

Does nitrox expire?

Don't worry about it, if you have the % marked from the fill.

What happens when the regulator begins to free flow?

Try to keep your regulator free from moisture pre-dive to avoid any freezing in the cold air, and take exploratory breaths with the regulator submerged where it's less prone to freezing. Finally, avoid big bursts of gas from your regulator when possible, such as using it to inflate a lift bag or deploy an SMB.
